On the Planar Two-Center Problem and Circular Hulls

چکیده
Given a set S of n points in the Euclidean plane, two-center problem is to find two congruent disks smallest radius whose union covers all S. Previously, Eppstein (SODA’97) gave randomized algorithm $$O(n\log ^2\!n)$$ expected time and Chan (CGTA’99) presented deterministic ^2\!n\log ^2\log n)$$ time. In this paper, we propose an algorithm, which improves Chan’s matches bound Eppstein. If convex position, then solve n\log \log Our results rely on new techniques for dynamically maintaining circular hulls under point insertions deletions, are independent interest.

On the Planar Two-Watchtower Problem
Given a polyhedral terrain (mountain landscape), the shortest watchtower problem is to compute the shortest vertical segment uv erected on the terrain such that every point on the surface of the terrain is visible from the top of uv, say u. The problem arises in geographical information systems , military surveillance, etc. The problem was rst studied by Sharir Sh88], who presented an O(n log 2...
متن کاملMore planar two-center algorithms
This paper considers the planar Euclidean two-center problem: given a planar n-point set S, nd two congruent circular disks of the smallest radius covering S. The main result is a deter-ministic algorithm with running time O(n log 2 n log 2 log n), improving the previous O(n log 9 n) bound of Sharir and almost matching the randomized O(n log 2 n) bound of Eppstein. If a point in the intersectio...
متن کاملOscillatory motions for the restricted planar circular three body problem
In this paper we consider the circular restricted three body problem which models the motion of a massless body under the influence of the Newtonian gravitational force caused by two other bodies, the primaries, which move along circular planar Keplerian orbits. In a suitable system of coordinates, this system has two degrees of freedom and the conserved energy is usually called the Jacobi cons...
متن کاملPlanar S-systems: Global stability and the center problem
S-systems are simple examples of power-law dynamical systems (polynomial systems with real exponents). For planar S-systems, we study global stability of the unique positive equilibrium and solve the center problem. Further, we construct a planar S-system with two limit cycles.

abstract this study evaluated and compared medical terminology and english for the students of medicine (ii) as two representatives of the textbooks available on the iranian market for teaching english to the students of medicine. this research was performed on the basis of a teacher’s and a number of students’ attitudes and the students’ needs analysis for two reasons: first, to investigate...
